My Valentina Shawl

You know when you just have to have it! I’m talking yarn, lovely squishy soft yarn.

A while back I was watching Fiberfic‘s weekly dose of Craft n Chat on YouTubeand she showcased a gorgeous gradient mini kit that I just have to have. For those of you who do not know who Chantelle from  Fiberificis, she s an Australian hand dyer and YouTube celeb. Once a week she goes live on her YouTube channel for a Craft N Chat engaging the masses with her knowledge on Fiber, Crochet and Knitting and if we are lucky she will host a monthly live dye stream.

I fell in love with the Mini Gradient Kit, these colors are so me!
Pegasus sock yarn minis are 75% Unmulesed Australian Merino 25% Nylon, it has great twist and nice sheen. It is so soft yet still has a really nice twist.

I had no idea what I was going to make but I wanted.. needed that kit.

The kit has a total of about 590m (98m per mini skein – approx 25g each)
The colors are Hot Jos, Pink Lemonade, Coconut Ice, Blush, Mist and Koala.

I knew it wouldn’t be enough for a good size project so I added an extra full skein of the Pegasus,  in the end I went with Essence of Jos,  the same yarn base but speckled with the color Hot Jos.

I sat on my package of squishy goodness for a while. Unsure what to make, played around a little but could not settle on a design… Well until….

The Valentina Shawl

The Valentina shawl designed by Lucia from Lucia’s Fig Tree. What I like most about this pattern is that you don’t have to cut the yarn for each alternating color rows, you simply carry the yarn up the side of the shawl, which is then hidden in the border rounds. The color opportunities are endless with this pattern. The pattern is written using UK terms and comes with photo steps.
