Martin and I like to take road trips, this year we chose Truro, Cornwall because it was Martin’s turn to pick, he wanted to explore the Tin mines and I wanted to find Ross Poldark! The scenery there was breath taking, wild moorlands and hundreds of sandy beaches. Truro, the UK’s most Southerly city is a vibrant center of shopping, culture and impressive architecture right in the heart of Cornwall.
When we go on our adventures, I make it a mission to hunt out local wool shops nothing beats seeing and feeling wool up close. It is all about the squish factor.
I found a lovely little independent wool shop, the Truro Wool Shop on St Mary’s Street. I had a fantastic time talking to the owner Julie; Julie followed her dreams, leaving her full time job to set up the wool shop. A dream I think we all share.

Julie runs workshops for the locals where they do “Crochet Along” together. She showed me some of her lovely finished projects and I instantly fell in love with her take on the beautiful Persian Tiles by Jane Crowfoot, the pattern had been on my to do list for a while, her choice of colors spoke to me. My husband treated me to the wool and the owner kindly wrote down the wool placement. It will be a great reminder of our break in Cornwall.
My New Year’s project is all set; I have the wool and pattern now I just need to finish a few wips. Who knows perhaps I’ll get to complete a few more on my “to do list” in 2019, but for now I’m excited to be starting the New Year with a new project, one that I have been longing do to.

Oh, I would love to go to Truro, but for me it would be a trip to Doc Martin,s neighborhood. Love the project you have set for the new year. Looking forward to seeing it progress.

Sadly I didn’t find Ross Poldark but it wasn’t through lack of trying 😉. I shall be posting my progress 😃👍🏻
