I am an avid knitter and crocheter (48 years combined), my craft room can attest to that. Honestly, I am not a hoarder; I just have an eclectic taste!
Everything looks a whole lot more in my tiny little cottage. As you can imagine, I have gathered quite an assortment of yarns, patterns and notions over the many years. When Emma announced the admins New Year’s plans, I decided it was time to take a real look at what I had. For 2 months, I have been sorting, stacking, making piles and organizing my craft room with the hope that inspiration would strike!
I have been going back and forth with ideas; I knew I wanted to add a knitting project as well as a crochet project to my New Year plans.
Knitting

I decided on a Fair Isle Throw and Pillow, texture and color work. A mixture of techniques that will keep me on my needles. I decided to use Stylecraft Special Aran in rich blue/greens and warms browns. (Teal, Storm Blue, Dark brown and Parchment). I love the contrast between the blue of the teal and storm blue, and the dark brown. The parchment is there as a lighter accent color.
Crochet

I went back and forth and was all set to do Jane Crowfoots Bohemian Blooms for my crochet project but then I found a box and in that box was a bouquet of bright beautiful cottons, so I immediately changed my mind. I still plan to do the Bohemian Blooms but for my New Year’s project, I have picked the Amanzi Blanket by Jen Tyler. I loved doing mandalas so I hunted around and found Jen Tyler. I hooked the basic Amanzi square using crazy colors from my stash, and then Jen made it into a throw size, which I have always wanted to do but been too busy and the box of cotton I found will work perfectly.
Main Colors: Dark Heather, Medium grey, Off White
Other accent colors: Lime, Medium Pink, Rust, Raspberry, Orange, Denim Blue, Cerise and Stylecraft Classique Sunflower (as I am stash busting!)
Both are stunning plans and work Jeni. Made the Amanzi and was in a happy place for a long time. Jen Tyler makes the most gorgeous 3D crochet designs. For knitting blankets, I need to take it with me. Needles, blankets and bags don’t go together in my case. Need to learn to be less obsessed of finishing an item XD
