On the Hook – August

Happy August!!

I have been slacking on the blog.. So here is the first of my monthly newsletter  “On the Hook” a monthly breakdown on whats on my hook and what I plan to hook. News and updates from my crochet world to yours.

The Club
We are half way into the Ross Cal over on the Pippin Crochet Club. We can finally start to piece together our parts like one big jigsaw puzzle.

Temps are rising!
So many of us have been working on our temperature blankets. Here is mine up to the end of July.

Mood of the Month.
Yeah! August is my vacation month. One week of pure bliss on the beach. So its only fitting that this months mood board should reflect that.

Book Review
Twinkie Chan’s Crocheted Abobe A la Mode

20 Yummy Crochet Projects for Your Home. Chan unveils twenty new food-themed crochet patterns for crafters to follow as they crochet their living space into a cozier, yummier place. The book is organized according to rooms in your house: kitchen and dining, living and lounging, bath and beauty, and home office.
I brought this book mainly for the Giant Doughnut Pouf, which I will tell you all about in next months issue of On the Hook.
Pro’s – Well written and full of colorful pictures. Patterns are easy to follow.
Con’s – No charts and some of the patterns are a little to quirky for my taste.
Suggestions – I would recommend going to your local bookstore and having a flick threw before purchasing.

Planned Project: August

I’ve never made anything for myself a so this month I will change that. August I will start the Crocodile Stitch Cardigan by Bonita Patterns I have picked out my yarn, Micheal’s Loops and Threads Impeccable in Aran .

Bonita is known for her love of the Crocodile stitch, just take a look at her store.

 

 

Giant Donut Floor Pouf.
As mentioned above in this months book review I will be making the Giant Donut Floor Pouf for my newly created craft room.

 

 

 

I  also plan to release the 3rd square in my “Oh Baby” series of squares.

Plus finish the Ross Cal and the Atlanticus Cal.. Phew Im gonna need that vacation!!
